Working Moms – How Do We Do It?

Working moms have the hardest job in the world – taking care of a family while still working full time or part time. Being a mother means taking on the responsibility of raising a family and no job outside the home is more important or more difficult to do.

However, many moms have to work, and when they do they double up on responsibilities. So, how do they do it? If you are a new working mother or just want to know what the secret is, realize that the process takes time to learn and perfect.

Tips for working moms

Look at some of the things working mothers do to accomplish all they do. It is never an easy task but for many moms, it is definitely worthwhile to do.

  • Efficiency. Most working moms have a lot to do in a given day and get it done because they have a schedule that works. On the other hand, when things go wrong, they find a way to prioritize to make the important things get done anyway. In short, there is rarely anyone to step in and do what moms do.
  • Setting Priorities. Many moms have to juggle things that need to be done by the level of importance. Things that can get done today do get done today while those things that can wait, wait. Juggling between the many responsibilities a mother has in any given day means taking the time to learn what their priorities need to be.
  • Selflessness. Most of the time, mothers do not have a lot of time for themselves. Those that work outside of the home, or manage businesses at home, have little time for their own needs and desires. Reading that book, playing on the computer or just having down time never really seems to happen.

The question is not how do working moms do it, but rather, how could they not? Most mothers adore their children and want to spend a great deal of time with them. That feeling of having arms wrapped around your neck and a big “thanks, Mom” from your child makes all the hard work that goes into every single day easier to manage and makes it definitely worthwhile.

Most moms do what they need to because they have a sense of responsibility and a passion for being everything their family needs them to be. That is powerful.

Quick and Easy Meal Ideas for Working Moms

Working moms are often tired after spending a long day at work, and the last thing on your mind when you come home is what you are going to feed your family. You want to rest and relax after the daily grind, but hungry children and husbands can’t wait. Rather than falling back on frozen dinners or even worse, fast food, you can find some quick and simple recipes that only take a short time to prepare.

Pasta Dishes

Pasta dishes are an excellent choice, and you don’t have to get fancy to make pasta taste great. Spaghetti is a natural and easy option. You simply have to boil the pasta, open a jar of marinara sauce, and you are ready.

With just a little more effort though, you can add some zest to the meal. Consider adding cooked and drained ground turkey or chicken to the sauce for a bit of protein. It is healthier than ground beef and it tastes just as good. You can also add sausage chunks to the sauce.

You might also want to take some leftover chicken, cut it into strips, and use it. Consider changing up the type of sauce as well. Alfredo sauce is just one of the many options available.

Rice Dishes

Another easy dish is rice, especially when you utilize a rice cooker. The steamer will do all of the work for you. Since no one wants to eat just rice, consider cooking up some ground chicken or turkey and adding a bag of frozen vegetables to it. It is an easy version of stir fry that takes only minutes to make, and it tastes great served over rice. A little bit of low sodium soy sauce helps to add some flavor. Many children even like to use ketchup on it!

Slow Cooking

A Crockpot, or slow cooker, is probably one of the best inventions for the busy mom. With the slow cooker, you will be able to make a host of different types of food, including chili, stew, and soup. You can get up in the morning before the kids and put everything into the slow cooker. Start it when you leave in the morning, and your main dish will be ready when you get home. Cook up some veggies, add some sliced bread on the side, and you have a healthy and tasty meal in no time.

Advice for Professional Women in the Workplace

The world is starting to change for the better, at least when it comes to women in the workplace. More and more women are following high-powered careers in many different fields. They are going out on their own, buying their own homes, and not relying on husbands as a form of support.

Sixty years ago, this seemed all but impossible and women were often relegated to the roles of mother and caregiver. Today, women are CEOs, lawyers, doctors, politicians, and anything else that they choose to be. The doors have been flung wide open, and it is a great time to be a woman given all the options that are available.

Finding the right balance between family and work

As more women have entered these various careers, one might think that they’ve placed the importance of family life firmly in the backseat. However, that’s not the case. The women today are able to spend time working in a professional environment during the day and still remain an attentive and loving mother and spouse.

The key to remaining happy and keeping a great job and family is balance. Some feel neglectful that they are leaving their children at home and in the hands of sitters and they don’t put their all into their work. Others feel that they need to prove what their worth at their job and then the family doesn’t receive the attention it deserves. These feelings aren’t found only in women. Both men and women can have a hard time finding a balance, but everyone will be able to attain it as long as they are able to focus on work while at the job and on family while at home.

Looking forward

Of course, even with more women in professional roles, it doesn’t mean that it is easy for them to advance and to get where they want to be. There are still a number of barriers that women are breaking down just so they can be treated as equals with their male counterparts. Fortunately, things are changing, although they might not be changing fast enough for some.

A piece of advice that many professional women have given others who are just starting out in a new career is this: don’t try to act like a man while on the job, and don’t try to act like a woman either. Act like a professional at all times when it comes to your work, and those around you will take notice.

Great Tips for Working Moms

More and more moms are heading off to work today, and that means that they might be having some trouble spending as much time with the children as they want. They can even find that keeping up with the normal household routine can be very difficult. The following tips can help moms keep a good grasp on the house, their children, and their relationship with their spouse.

Routines are Important

Having routines can help to minimize the amount of frustration that you feel, and it is easier than you might think to implement. A morning routine is very important. You can get up an hour or so before you children to have some time to yourself. You can have a cup of coffee, read, and watch the news. It gives you and your spouse time to get ready for work without fighting over space in the bathroom, and it gives you both ample time to get breakfast ready. Let the children know the morning schedules for bathroom time.

Having a routine for bedtime is important too. Put the children down to bed about an hour or so before you and your spouse go to sleep. This will give you some time with one another to relax, watch television, read, or just enjoy one another’s company.

Feeding the Masses

Getting a healthy dinner together each night can be difficult, even if both you and your spouse are working on it. A great idea is to prepare meals ahead of time and make enough for leftovers. On the weekend, you might want to prepare food for several diners during the week. Make enough so that you have leftovers. You can use the leftovers for lunches as well, which can free up more time in the morning since you won’t have to prepare anything. The less time you have to spend in the kitchen during the week, the more freedom you will have.

Spending Quality Time

The weekends should also be used for extra quality time. While you are probably prodding the children to finish their homework through the week and might not get as much time with them as you would like, the weekends are perfect for family time. You can head out to the park, go hiking, visit a museum, catch a movie, tell stories, and do countless other cheap and free activities with the kids. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, but the time that you spend with them is priceless.
